I have to pass this along because to me it’s just so funny. One of Sangeeta’s friends emailed it to us (Fwd) and though we don’t need the powerful benefits it promises, its entertainment value is too great to keep to myself. So here you go, whoever you are who reads my blog:

Prayer for Finances (it works)

I claimed it for you – now claim it for me.

God has more than a thousand ways to provide

For us, that we know nothing about.

Here is your financial blessing!

It’s a simple prayer, you got 30 Seconds?

Don’t sleep on this…Someone recently

Read this for the first time and

Received exactly enough for a $0 balance

On all credit cards.

If you need a financial blessing,

Heavenly Father, most Gracious and Loving

God, I pray to you that you Abundantly bless

My family and me.

I know that you recognize, that a Family

Is more than just a mother, father, sister, brother, cousin,

Husband and wife, but all who believe and trust in You.

Dear GOD, I send up a prayer request for

Financial blessing for not only the Person who

Sent this to me, but for me and all that I have

Forwarded This message to.

And that the power of joined prayer by

Those who Believe and trust in you is

More powerful than anything!

I thank you in Advance for your blessings.

God, deliver the person reading this right Now

From debt and debt burdens.

Release your Godly wisdom that I may be a

Good steward over all that you have given me

GOD, for I know how wonderful and mighty

You are and how if we just obey you and walk

In your word and have the faith of a Mustard

Seed that you will pour out blessings.

I thank you now Lord for the recent blessings I have

Received and for the blessings yet to come,

Because I know you are not done with me yet.

In Jesus name Amen…

TAKE 60 SECONDS and send this on quickly and within hours, you will have

Caused a multitude of people to pray to God for each other. Then sit

Back and watch the power of God work in your life for doing the thing That you

Know He loves. Peace and Blessings….

Have Faith

8 angels are sent 2 you,

You must send them to 8 people .

In 8 minutes you will receive something you have long awaited.

I just finished reading Albert Camus – The Stranger, and I can’t help but identify with the main character. The biggest difference between him and me is that he doesn’t seem to think of much past tomorrow, except that all week he looks forward to being with his girlfriend on Sundays. I put a whole lot more effort trying to peer into the future: planning and scheming, working toward goals. Mersault was a simpleton. An idiot.

And yet if you really dig down and think about things from a relativist viewpoint, who’s to say he’s wrong when he asserts that no life is worth living? We all die and then people forget us. What’s the point? For me it all just comes back to survival. We’re here because that’s what we do, because we’re alive. If it wasn’t what our ancestors did, we wouldn’t be here to worry about it.

I did receive one surprise insight from this book – the justice system is geared to weed out socially maladapted limbic systems. People are so interested in the emotional displays of accused criminals because the limbic system is what we’ve evolved to allow us to function in a community setting. A messed up limbic system makes one unable to function as a cog in the machine, and has to be discarded or repaired or maybe just beat back into shape.

I just realized that Microsoft is trying to screw me over again. It seems that with their .NET Framework v3.5 upgrade, they silently install a Firefox extension that YOU CAN’T UNINSTALL! Well, not through the normal means of clicking the Uninstall button, anyway. It turns out you have to remove a registry key, reset a Firefox configuration parameter, and then delete a folder, which it turns out may require a reboot depending on what other software you’re running.

Here’s the complete removal procedure:

Minesweeper: Advanced Tactics

I like playing Minesweeper. This guy goes into some detailed but not difficult statistics to try to figure out a difficult board position, and the thinking is fascinating, but I would have quickly hit the 50/50 choices (bottom center and top left) and if I survived those, I’d have hit the bottom-right corner square next. It’s got a better than 90% chance to not be a mine, and 60% chance to not be adjacent to a mine (thus opening more free squares and yielding more information about the remaining mine placement).

Of course, if one of those 50/50/90 choices had got me blown up, I’d have just started a new game.

One variant I like to play is where you don’t mark the positions of known mines, leaving them unmarked until the end when you’ve clicked off all the non-mine squares one by one. It’s quite difficult and often slower than the marking method (you can’t use the trick of clicking both buttons to reveal all unmarked adjacent squares) but it sure is a memory challenge. If you like playing minesweeper, you should try it.
